In such a scenario its becomes really important to secure your wireless internet. For this you can enable WEP security to every new wireless device that wants to connect with your router.

What is WEP ?

Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is an algorithm to secure IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Since Wireless networks (WiFi) broadcast messages using radio waves & are thus more susceptible to eavesdropping than wired networks. WEP was introduced to provide confidentiality to wireless networks.

Two methods of authentication can be used with WEP: Open System & Shared Key authentication.

In this post we will discuss using WEP between a WLAN client and an Access Point using Open System, but the discussion applies to the Ad-Hoc mode as well.
